ALL ON FOUR

All-on-4 Dental Implant Treatment: Process, Case Examples, and Patient Reviews

All-on-4 dental implant treatment is a modern surgical procedure that restores chewing function and smile aesthetics for patients who have lost all their teeth or have teeth requiring extraction. The process begins by placing 4 titanium implants at specific angles into the upper or lower jaw, followed by fitting a temporary fixed prosthesis on the next day.

Below are case examples and patient reviews compiled from both the surgical phase (first visit) and the final restoration phase (second visit).

Case 1: Patients Using Removable Dentures for Many Years

ADAM S:  58-year-old patient who used full removable dentures in both upper and lower jaws for many years.

  • First Visit (Surgery & Temporary Prosthesis): Following bone density evaluation, All-on-4 was applied using angled implants in the posterior region. Temporary fixed prostheses were fitted on the day of surgery.

  • Second Visit (3 Months Later - Permanent Prosthesis): After the healing phase, digital/traditional impressions were taken. Following try-in sessions and gingival contour checks, permanent zirconium prostheses were screwed into place.

  • Patient Review:

"For years, I couldn't even eat an apple out of fear my dentures would slip. I felt huge relief on the day of surgery when my temporary teeth were fitted. However, when my permanent zirconium teeth were attached during the second visit, I truly noticed the difference. The temporary teeth helped me adapt, but the permanent ones feel and look exactly like my natural teeth. I no longer have any anxiety while eating or smiling."

Case 2: Patients with Advanced Periodontal (Gum) Disease

CLAIRE:  47-year-old patient with severe gum recession and loose teeth.

  • First Visit (Extractions, Surgery & Temporary Prosthesis): Loose teeth were extracted, implants were placed, and temporary prostheses were delivered on the same day.

  • Second Visit (3.5 Months Later - Permanent Prosthesis): After achieving complete osseointegration, final prostheses customized to the patient's aesthetic and bite preferences were fitted.

  • Patient Review:

"I experienced mild swelling after the first surgery visit, but spent the 3 months very comfortably with my temporary teeth. The second visit was the most pleasant part; there was no surgery or pain involved, just impressions and try-in appointments. The color and shape of my permanent teeth look so natural that no one around me can tell they are prosthetics."

What to Expect During the Second Visit?

  1. Painless and Comfortable Sessions: Since the second visit focuses purely on the final restoration (aesthetics and function), it involves no surgical incisions or local anesthesia.

  2. Precise Impressions and Try-Ins: Precise impressions and fittings are conducted to manufacture permanent prostheses (zirconia or porcelain) tailored to the patient's facial features, phonetics, and bite.

  3. Perfect Fit and Aesthetics: Fabricated based on how the gum tissues adapted during the temporary phase, final prostheses deliver optimal chewing efficiency and a natural appearance.
